Sleep studies

At Lotus Dental our dentists have a special interest in diagnosing and treating snoring and sleep apnoea.

​

As dentists we play a key role as gatekeepers of the patient’s airway. Some patients come to us knowing they have sleep issues, but all our patients who have a comprehensive examination are also routinely assessed for possible sleep-related issues by our dentists.

We can then offer a home sleep study to our adult patients to help properly diagnose and treat the cause of problems including:

• teeth grinding

• tiredness

• headaches

• reduced oxygen saturation levels

due to a collapsing of the airway.

Home sleep studies

​

Sleep studies used to involve spending the night at a hospital or special.clinic. Now they can take place in the comfort of your own home with a portable diagnostic recorder.

​

After the study we upload the sleep data for study by a GP and a specialist sleep physician. A detailed 5 page report is then sent to our dentists, who guide the patient towards a correct treatment modality and different options for treatment.
